American Waltz | Smooth
Welcome to American Waltz! American Waltz is like the loud sibling to International Waltz; similar, but entirely different. This dance is a favourite of many and hopefully you’ll get to see why!
With that, lets get into Waltz!
Let’s DancE!
If you think American and International are similar, compare this routine to our International Waltz routine!
The Moves
Left and Right Turns
This may be the most elegant routine we’ve shown so far, and it’s not as scary as it looks! We’ll start with the most obvious steps, the Left and Right Turns with Underarm Turns.
We’ve got a lot of videos this week, so watch through all of them for extra tips and guidance!
Twinkle
You may have noticed a small step in the middle of the routine, this is the Twinkle!
Twinkle is an elegant, simple, and versatile move out on the dance floor.
Make sure to look through all the videos here (7!) for hints on counting, facing, and footwork!
Back-To-Back
If you were to pick American over International for any reason, make it for this!
Back-to-Back moves quickly and magnificently across the dance floor. It’s a lot of fun to learn and practice. Be confident in your moves!
Back-to-Back to Twinkle
A last little combination to try before going for the whole routine.
You got this!
That’s it for our lesson! If you want to learn more, join us at our meetings and send us any questions you might have! Thank you to Abigail, Michael, and Dana for filming these videos and keeping us practicing!
